Under armour case 1. What is the task or problem facing the company? The main problems for Under Armour Inc is to maintain a sustainable place in a competitive market. The sports apparel market already has strong companies leading profits. Nike Inc., Columbia Sportswear Company and Adidas AG are the largest direct competitors to Under Armour. Under Armour has had a big challenge to create their own brand that would be in demand with the consumer while competing against already well established brands. Under Armour Inc − SP 500 − #62 in FORTUNE s Fastest-Growing Companies as of August 2015 − #739 in FORTUNE 1000 as of June 2015 − UA $70.79 * 1.73 ^ 2.51% (NASDAQ, 2015) Under Armour was founded in 1996 in Baltimore, USA and has quickly risen to become the 2nd largest athletic apparel company in the world (Feloni, 2015). Under Armour now has $2.6 billion in revenue from sales of apparel and footwear. Under Armour is expected to grow by 20% in 2016 (Feloni, 2015). Part of the success of Under Armour comes from new offers such as compression under wear and base layers. The other large motivator for Under Armour s growth has been acquiring top athletes, performers and celebrities to endorse their products. Theses include, Tom Brady(quarterback), Gisele Bundchen(model), Michael Phelps( Olympic medalist, swimmer) and more (Feloni, 2015).
